Billerica Dog Park Reopened June 8 2020

The town of Billerica has announced that the Dog Park could reopen Monday, June 8, 2020.
COVID-19 restrictions are in place.  As of June 14, 2020, here are the current guidelines on how the Billerica Dog Park will work in the “New Normal”.
  • Wear Your Face Mask or Covering.
  • Practice Social Distancing. Maintain Six Feet Apart.
  • Water Bowls and Toys Should Not be Shared by Dogs, or Handled by Visitors. Water is available at the park, but bring your own bowl. Please take your toys & bowls with you when you leave.
  • Use Your Elbow to Operate Water or Open Trash Barrels. No Hands.  The trash barrels have been modified to open hands free using your elbow.
  • After Visiting, Wash Your Hands or Use Hand Sanitizer. Please bring your own sanitizer.
We may have to adjust these guidelines as needed to adapt to the “New Normal”, and keep it as safe as possible for everyone. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please pass them along.
Welcome back.

Survey for Massachusetts Dog Parks

Hi dog park folks!

In 2017-2018, a version of this survey was conducted specifically for the Chelmsford Dog Park. The information gathered was beneficial toward guiding the goals of the CDA in the development of the Chelsmford Dog Park.

We’re now re-running the survey to gather results from a wider audience and for a number of different town dog parks in the state. We are interested in finding out about your perceptions of your local dog park and other area dog parks as well as the perception of others in your towns.

I'd appreciate it if you would take this survey and encourage others to do so as well.

New Pavilion Comes to the Billerica Dog Park
In memory of Alexandria Yvonne
The Billerica Dog Park committee is pleased to announce the completion of the pavilion at the Billerica Dog Park.
In the fall of 2019, a local family expressed interest in sponsoring the pavilion in memory of a family member and funds raised through friends. The new Pavilion, dedicated in memory of Alexandria Yvonne, is the result of the family’s friends’ efforts.
The pavilion is 20 feet by 16 feet. It will provide protection from the rain and shade from the sun. There will also benches for seating (backordered, coming soon), and some additional landscaping planned for later in the year.
We are grateful to the family that made this possible.

Happy Anniversary, Billerica Dog Park

June 1, 2020 marks the one-year anniversary of the Park.  Despite the current COVID-19 quarantine that has shut down the park for the past couple of months, we are thrilled to be able to reopen again on June 8, 2020.
We started this journey in 2009.  Justify need, site selection, concept, Bylaw change, operating guidance, approvals, environmental protection, legal concerns, design, funding, grants, construction, community projects.  A long journey indeed.
To celebrate the anniversary, we want to again thank all those who made it a success.  It truly does “take a village”.
From the many hands in the community, thank you again.  Local businesses donating time, money, merchandise, news coverage, flyer postings, and community service projects making improvements, and even snow plowing.  Also, hundreds of individuals and organizations donated everything from spare change to literally hundreds-of-thousands, along with their support to push us on.
From the many hands at the Town of Billerica, thank you again.  Recreation Commission, Recreation Department, Board of Selectmen, Town Meeting, DPW, Board of Health, Conservation Commission, Town Manager’s office, Engineering, Water.
It truly does take a village, and we again thank our entire village and all who helped make the Dog Park a reality. it would not have been possible without all of you.
