There are over 2,000 registered dogs in Billerica. Where do you go with your dog in Billerica?  The Billerica Dog Park Committee wants to establish and maintain a Dog Park in the Town of Billerica for them to run, play, and socialize with other dogs.  We support other pet friendly projects as well.

Thank you Billerica!

A funny thing happened on the way to raising $42,000 for Billerica's first dog park. We started working towards an application for a grant from the Stanton Foundation. The Stanton Foundation Foundation will fund a significant portion of the park.  So, we now have what is needed to apply for a Stanton grant.  All totaled, we have raised $25,720.  Along with a grant from Stanton, Billerica will get its dog park.

Thank you Billerica!

You're Awesome...
  • Yankee Doodle Homecoming in 2013.  This started our fundraising with $327 in change dropped in the collection jars.
  • $150 donation from O'Connor's.
  • $600 anonymous donation from another a Billerica business.
  • The 61 people who bought 74 Commemorative Bricks, adding a combined $2500.
  • Nick B, your $20 donation means just as much too.
  • The Billerica Community Fund's $9009 contribution funded by EMD Serono and Parexel.
  • ...and many many more.
We appreciate your support, patience and excitement to us opening Billerica's first Dog Park.  Fundraising has been a lot tougher than we expected when we started two and a half years ago.

Next Steps:
We are currently finalizing an application with The Stanton Foundation, and expect to submit it this month.  The Stanton Foundation, created by Dr. Frank Stanton, supports areas where he was unable to complete his charitable intentions during his lifetime.  One of those areas is Canine welfare and Dog Parks for Massachusetts.  If approved, they will fund the majority of our costs, and help us a achieve an even better park.  Think water feature and landscaping, a shade pavilion, and more.

It should take a month or two to hear from Stanton.  Then the detailed design and permitting will commence.  We expect to start construction next Spring and open the park next summer.

Thank you Billerica!

Sculpture Debut

As part of Billerica 2016 First Night celebrations, Justin Gordon of Elwin Designs carved a dog sculpture that will be used at the Dog Park entrance.

The sculpture is now on display waiting for her permanent home.  Stop by and see her outside the Billerica Recreation Department, 248 Boston Road.

Her name?  Stay tuned.  We are looking into a contest to name her.

A great big thank you to Justin Gordon for the beautiful sculpture, and to Donna Hanson of Billerica Recreation for organizing it.
